FSW Symposium Deadline for Papers Extended

Mon, 13 November, 2023

The deadline to submit abstracts of papers for the upcoming Friction Stir Welding (FSW) Symposium has been extended until 17 November 2023.

The 13th International Symposium on Friction Stir Welding and the 3rd International Joint Symposium on Joining and Welding are due to take place from 21-23 May 2024 in Kyoto, Japan.

Papers should be outlined in an abstract of around 300 words in length, including the full title of the paper as well as names, affiliations, email addresses and full mailing addresses of all authors. The abstract should also state whether the paper will be presented orally or as a poster.

The official language of the symposium is English, with papers to describe new developments in the science, technology, applications, industrialisation, performance, quality, design or any other topic relevant to the advancement of FSW. All submitted abstracts should present details of the background, objectives, methodology and results.

Authors are expected to attend the event and present the papers themselves, with the presenting author clearly indicated in the abstract. Leading authors can only submit a maximum of three abstracts for the symposium.

Final decisions will be made on the submitted abstracts by 19 January 2024, with final papers due to be submitted for inclusion by 19 April 2024.

The symposium provides a global forum for the sharing of scientific and technical knowledge related to FSW.

You can find out more about paper and abstract submissions as well as about the event itself on the dedicated webpage, here.
